Norway Chess 2022 has begun with standard time control. Round 1 started last night and GM Wesley So and Former World Champion Viswanathan Anand of India immediately ignited strength.

GM So defeated Azerbaijan veteran GM Teimour Radjabov and GM Anand defeated France's GM MVL.

GM So successfully captured GM Radjabov's weak Pawns which resulted in winning the 38 moves battle of Giuoco Piano, while GM Anand successfully took care of only one Pawn sacrificed by GM MVL and eventually end with two more Passed Pawns which GM Anand won on the 40th move.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen won the white pieces over GM Wang Hao of China in their very crucial Armageddon game which reached 42 moves of the Catalan battle. Everyone will have an Armageddon fight if the standard games can be drawn.
